This made the war feel more realistic and accurate. The novel features several small battles, instead of just one final battle at the end of the novel which I supremely enjoyed. What stood apart in this novel is that the adventure has ended and war is imminent. A major issue is the4 gods are unable to directly interfere with prophecies and so Percy and the Heroes are basically left to defend Olympus and Western Civilisation all on their own. Titans, few gods and several half-bloods have joined Kronos’ invasion and will stop at nothing until Olympus is in ruins. Percy and Camp Half-Blood have been planning tactics and war strategies all year in preparation for Kronos’ rise and the final war the prophecy has alluded to for years. The concluding novel increases the action from the very first page. The novel was flawless, the action was perpetual and incredible, and everything from the previous novels was tied together and wrapped up neatly. If there were ever such a thing as a perfect novel, The Last Olympian would be it. Riordan continues to mix humor, action, and Greek mythology to build a tale that draws in readers and doesnt let go until the last page. Familiar faces return, and terrifying new monsters are introduced. Will he be strong enough to do what must be done, knowing all the while that this adventure may be his last? This climactic battle, played out on the streets of Manhattan and high above the ground on the 600th floor of the Empire State Building, is Percys most exciting to date. The Great Prophecy that hes heard so much about suggests that he will be forced to make a difficult choice, and that the outcome of any choice he makes will lead to his death. In this final novel of the Percy Jackson series, Percy worries that his fate may be sealed no matter what he does. From attempting to convince their immortal parents to stand and fight on Olympus, to engaging in hand-to-hand combat with Kronos himself, this band of campers has a wild ride in store for them. Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and the rest of the residents of Camp Half-Blood must do what they can to stop Kronos and his minions from taking down Olympus and ending the benefits our civilization reaps from the presence of the gods in America. Lord Kronos has gathered a massive army of Titans, gods, demons, monsters, and slighted demigods to help achieve his goal of destroying Mount Olympus and the gods that live there. Percy Jackson returns, and this time hes fighting for his life, his friends, and the existence of Olympus and life as we know it.
