Al has cancer and is played by a much less famous actor than Jake, so Jake must go back in time himself and save JFK. Al is convinced the JFK assassination was responsible for a whole generation of disconnected Vietnam veterans and has made it his life’s mission to go back in time and stop it from happening. The lead character Jake (James Franco) discovers his friend Al’s diner has a time portal in the pantry that sends him back in time to October 1960. The premise is simple, depending on your definition of simple. The eight-episode adaptation of a Stephen King novel aired last spring and is available in full on Hulu or on DVD from your local well-meaning library. Hulu’s 11.22.63 was released a year ago, but not everyone has time to watch things right away in the Too Much TV Era.
